Well, well, well, look what we have here! Submarine pitchers in MLB The Show 23, huh? These fellas, they throw the ball all funny. Kinda like they’re tryin’ to roll it under the dirt or somethin’. Not like them other fellas who throw it overhand. It’s a sight to see, I tell ya!
This game, MLB The Show 23, you know, it’s somethin’ else. My grandson, he’s always playin’ it. He was tellin’ me about these submarine pitchers. Says they’re special. They got this weird way of throwin’, all low to the ground. Makes it hard for the batter to hit, he says.
I seen ’em on the TV, these submarine pitchers. They bend way over, almost touchin’ the dirt, then fling that ball up all sneaky-like. Reminds me of old Mr. Henderson back in the day, tryin’ to sneak a cookie from the jar. He was always bendin’ over, tryin’ to be quiet. These baseball fellas, they do the same, but with a ball.
- This Tyler Rogers, I hear he’s a good one. The best side arm pitcher, they say.
- That’s what they call it, you see, “side arm”. Same as submarine.
- They all throw kinda sideways, you know. Not straight over the top.
Now, why would they do that, you ask? Well, I ain’t no expert, but I reckon it’s to trick those batters. You see the ball comin’ from a different place, it messes with your head. Like tryin’ to catch a greased pig at the county fair. You think you got it, then whoosh! It’s gone somewhere else.
Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that fancy submarine pitchin’. We just threw the ball. Hard as we could. Didn’t matter if it was overhand or underhand, just as long as it got to the plate. Nowadays, it’s all different. These young folks got all sorts of tricks up their sleeves. Or should I say, under their arms?
MLB The Show 23, it’s got all these fellas in it. Even the ones who throw all funny. I seen my grandson playin’ it. He was throwin’ with one of them submarine guys. Strike after strike! The other team couldn’t touch him. It was like watchin’ a magic show, I swear.
So, if you’re playin’ this MLB The Show 23 game, and you wanna try somethin’ different, maybe give these submarine pitchers a whirl. They’re a hoot to watch, and from what I hear, they’re pretty darn good. I remember someone mention Chad Bradford, he was a good one too, apparently. They are kinda like them fellas who try to skip rocks across the pond. They gotta get low, get that angle just right, or the rock just sinks. These pitchers, they do the same. They get low, get that angle, and that ball, it just zips right past the batter.
This game, it’s got all the bells and whistles. You can pick your team, pick your players, even pick how they throw the ball. It’s a lot to take in, I tell ya. But I guess that’s the way things are now. Everything’s gettin’ more complicated. Even baseball.
I still like the old way better, though. Just a good old-fashioned game of catch. No fancy throws, no tricks. Just a ball, a glove, and a sunny afternoon. That’s all you really need. But these submarine pitchers, they are somethin’ to see. If you get a chance, check ’em out. You might just be surprised at what they can do. This submarine pitching style, it is surely somethin’.
Some other fellas, they used to throw like this, real low, back in the day. They called them Carl Mays, and Ted Abernathy, and some others. Long time ago. But it’s still around, this way of throwin’. Just goes to show ya, some things never really go away. They just change a little, get a new name, like this “submarine” thing. It’s all the same, though. Just a different way to throw a baseball. And in MLB The Show 23, these submarine pitchers are showin’ everyone how it’s done.
There was also that Chad Bradford fella I mentioned before. I guess some folks loved to play with him in that MLB 2018 game. I hear he was somethin’ else with that underhand throw of his. If you are into submarine pitchers MLB the show 23 is the game for you.
