Well now, you ever heard of this young feller, Tanner Cook? He’s a 21-year-old, runs himself a little ol’ YouTube channel called “Classified Goons.” Got over 55,000 folks watchin’ him, all sorts of pranks and such. A lotta folks like to laugh at his videos, and some folks don’t take too kindly to ’em. Ain’t that the way of the world, though? Some folks find it funny, others ain’t so sure ’bout it.
Now, I reckon this story started when Tanner got himself into a real sticky situation. You see, it was on May 3, 2023, Tanner was involved in a shooting. Yep, you heard that right. A man by the name of Alan Colie, 31 years old, was the one who pulled the trigger. Colie’s defense said Tanner’s pranks might’ve been confusing, but it don’t make it right for someone to get shot, now, does it?
What happened was Tanner was doin’ one of his usual pranks—walkin’ ’round with a phone stuck in his ear, actin’ like he was up to somethin’. Colie didn’t know it was a prank, see, and he got all worked up, thought somethin’ bad was gonna happen. That’s when the shot rang out. Tanner got hit, but thank the Lord, he didn’t die from it.
It was a mess in the courtroom, though. Colie was tried for aggravated malicious wounding, but the jury couldn’t make up their minds. They were split on whether he should be found guilty or not. In the end, Colie was let off the hook for that charge. There was some talk about firearms charges, but they weren’t settled either. It’s a real head-scratcher for sure.
Now, you might be wonderin’ what made Tanner do such a thing. Well, these pranks, folks say they’re meant to be funny. They’re just jokes to Tanner and his crowd. But, like they say, you never know how somebody’s gonna take it. Maybe it was just a moment of confusion on Colie’s part. He didn’t know what was goin’ on, and maybe he acted outta fear. Hard to say. But the whole thing left a lot of folks scratchin’ their heads, wonderin’ where the line is between jokin’ around and real danger.
Pranks like Tanner’s—well, they sure do get attention. Some folks say they’re harmless fun, others say it goes too far. And I reckon this incident shows how one simple misunderstanding can turn into something real ugly. Ain’t that the way of the world, though? We all got our own ways of seein’ things, and sometimes, we don’t take a moment to think ’bout how others might feel.
Now, I reckon it’s not just about Tanner or Colie. It’s ’bout how we treat folks when they’re actin’ different. If you ask me, sometimes we all need to take a step back and think before we go and make judgments, or worse, make decisions that can hurt folks. Tanner’s pranks might’ve made some laugh, but it sure didn’t make things any easier for Colie, did it?
So, there you have it. A story ‘bout pranks gone wrong and a young man just tryin’ to make a name for himself on the internet. Makes you think ‘bout what’s worth laughin’ at, and what might just be a little too much. But, in the end, we all gotta live with the choices we make, don’t we?
