This year, my boy, he say he gonna take me on a trip. A fancy one. He call it “incentive yacht“. I don’t know what that means, but it sound expensive.
What is a Incentive Yacht?
He say it’s like a big boat, but way nicer. Like those rich folks have. He say we gonna sail on the water, see the sights. I told him, “Boy, I ain’t never been on no boat that big!” He just laughed. Say it will be good for me. Get me out of the house. Fresh air. All that. He say this “incentive yacht” is for folks who work real hard. They get to go on these trips. Like a reward. Sounds crazy, don’t it? A trip on a yacht for work?
Where This Yacht Go?
He showed me some pictures. Shiny blue water. Pretty beaches. Places called “Mallorca”. Sounds fancy. He say it’s an island, lots of beaches there. They said the water is so clear you can see straight to the bottom. I ain’t never seen water that clear.
There are others too. Virgin Islands, he say. British Virgin Islands. Sound like some queens and kings or something. He told me it’s calm there. The water, I mean. Good for a boat. I guess that’s important. Don’t want no choppy water on a big boat like that. Nope. He’s saying that they have good places to park the boat, anchorages. I guess, the boat don’t want to be float away when we are sleeping.
He kept going on and on. Talkin’ ’bout Mexico, the Caribbean. I told him, “Slow down, boy! I can’t keep up with all these places!” He say lots of folks go to these places. Playa Del Carmen, Nassau, San Jose del Cabo. Long names. He say these are the top three places folks are going to. Three years in a row! That’s a long time for folks to like the same thing. They must be real nice.

He say these places are good too. They got fancy hotels. I like a good bed. And things to do. He call them “unique experiences”. I don’t know what that means. But he say they treat you real good. Like you’re someone special. That’s always nice.
What You Do on a Incentive Yacht?
He say there’s lots to do. You can swim, I guess. I ain’t much of a swimmer. But maybe I’ll just dip my toes in. He say there’s something called a “sunset cocktail cruise.” I like a good drink now and then. Maybe I’ll try that. Watch the sun go down. Sounds peaceful.
And food. He say they got fancy food on these things. Not like my cookin’, I’m sure. He say they even have private dinners on the beach. Imagine that! Eating on the beach! He say they can do surfing and golf. I don’t know much about those. But it sounds like fun for the young folks. They also have waterfall hikes. I don’t think I can hike much but it sounds really nice.
He say you can learn some dance called “hula”. I ain’t much of a dancer neither. But I might give it a try. When in Rome, as they say. Or on a yacht, I guess.
Why You Go on a Incentive Yacht?
He say it’s to relax. To get away from it all. To be treated like a king or queen. I told him I ain’t no queen. But it does sound nice. To be pampered. To not have to worry about anything. Just enjoy the water, the sun, the food.
He say it’s good for folks who work hard. A way to say “thank you”. A way to show they’re appreciated. I guess that’s important. Folks need to know they’re doing a good job. A trip like this, it’s a big deal. It shows you really mean it.
Incentive yacht, it’s a whole other world. A world I ain’t never seen. But maybe, just maybe, it’s a world I’ll get to know. And who knows, maybe this old lady will learn a thing or two. Maybe I’ll even learn to like that hula dance. Or maybe I’ll just sit on that big boat, sip my drink, and watch the world go by. That sounds pretty good too.
This incentive yacht, is about fancy hotels and doing special things. The boy say they treat people like royalty on these trips. These places, they all got water and beaches. Sounds like they are good for a boat trip. They all sound far away. But the boy say it will be fun. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks. And this old lady gonna try this incentive yacht thing.
I still don’t know much about this incentive yacht. But the boy, he’s excited. And I guess I am too. A little bit. It’s not every day an old lady like me gets to go on a fancy trip like this. I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures. And maybe I’ll even send you one. If I can figure out how to work that darn phone!
