So, I finally got around to checking out the tgr jr invitational this year. Heard about it quite a bit, figured it was time to see it myself.

Woke up pretty early that day, grabbed some coffee, and just headed out. The drive wasn’t too bad, actually. Found parking easier than I thought, which was a good start. Walking towards the course, you could already feel a bit of a buzz. Lots of families, young golfers looking serious, carrying their bags. It wasn’t like a massive pro tournament crowd, felt more focused, more about the kids.
Watching the Game
Found a decent spot to watch near one of the greens. Honestly, I was pretty impressed. These aren’t just kids hacking it around; some of them have serious game. Their swings looked smooth, way better than mine ever was! Spent a good few hours just walking parts of the course, watching different groups come through. It’s different watching juniors play. There’s a raw kind of determination there.
What stood out to me:
- The focus these young players had. Really zoned in.
- How polite and professional most of them were. Good sportsmanship on display.
- The support system – parents, coaches – walking along, offering quiet encouragement. Not too much pressure, just support.
- The course itself looked great, really well-maintained for the event.
It wasn’t just about who was winning, though you could see the competitive spirit. It felt more like a showcase of young talent, a place for them to test their skills under proper tournament conditions. Saw some amazing shots, and yeah, saw some tough breaks too. That’s golf, right?
Stayed until the mid-afternoon. Didn’t catch the very end, but saw enough to get the feel of it. It’s quite something to see that level of dedication at such a young age. Left feeling pretty good about the future of the sport, seeing that kind of talent coming up. Just a solid day watching some impressive young golfers do their thing. Definitely worth the trip.
