Alright, so I spent some time recently just digging back into David Freese and his time with the Cardinals. It wasn’t really planned, just kinda happened. I think I saw an old highlight somewhere and it got me thinking.

So, I decided to properly sit down and revisit some of his big moments. You know, not just a quick glance but really watch them again. First thing I did was pull up Game 6 of the 2011 World Series. Had to. Found a good long video of the key innings.
I watched that triple he hit in the ninth. Man. The tension, the swing, the ball hitting the wall. Tried to remember what I was doing when I saw it live. Pretty sure I was losing my mind like everyone else. Then, of course, had to watch the walk-off home run in the eleventh. Just incredible stuff. Let those plays run a few times.
It wasn’t just about watching passively, though. I was thinking about the pressure. Hometown kid, World Series on the line, team’s back against the wall. Twice! It’s one thing to see the highlight, another to kinda put yourself in that spot mentally. Crazy pressure.
After soaking in Game 6 for a while, I looked up his NLCS performance from that same year. Remembered he won MVP for that series too. Watched some of those hits. It wasn’t just one game, he was pretty locked in during that whole postseason run.
I didn’t go super deep into stats or anything, wasn’t trying to write a report. Mostly just wanted to relive those moments. But I did look up a few basic numbers from that 2011 postseason. They backed up what I was seeing – the guy came through big time.
Found myself thinking about the whole ‘hometown hero’ story too. You don’t get those kinds of moments very often in sports, where someone from the area delivers like that on the biggest stage for their childhood team.
So yeah, that was my little project. Spent a solid afternoon just going through old Freese Cardinals moments, especially that 2011 run. It was cool to just focus on that history for a bit, remember how wild that time was. Definitely some unforgettable baseball.
