Alright, so, you wanna know about that there…what’s it called…longtime Los Angeles sports place, huh? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I know. Don’t expect no fancy words though, I ain’t no city slicker.
So, this place, they call it…hold on a sec…Staples Center. Yeah, that’s it. Staples Center. Sounds like somethin’ you use to put papers together, don’t it? But no, it’s a big ol’ buildin’ where they play all sorts of games. Basketball, hockey, concerts even. Loud music, you know? Not my cup of tea, but folks seem to like it.
Now, they been talkin’ ’bout changin’ the name, somethin’ about crypto somethin’ or other. * Arena, they call it now. Sounds like somethin’ from outer space, if you ask me. But it’s the same place, just a new name. Like when my niece got married and changed her last name. Same girl, just a different name, you get it?
- They got the Lakers there. Basketball fellas, real tall.
- And the Clippers too. More basketball. Don’t ask me the difference, they all bounce the ball and throw it in the hoop.
- Then there’s the Kings, playin’ that hockey game on ice. Fast and furious, like a bunch of chickens chasin’ a bug.
This place, it’s been around a good long while. Folks in Los Angeles, they know it. Been goin’ there for years, watchin’ games, cheerin’ for their teams. It’s like…like the town square, but indoors and with more yellin’.
I heard tell they even had the Olympics there, way back when. And they gonna have ’em again, in a few years. All them folks from all over the world comin’ to Los Angeles, watchin’ the games. Gonna be a real hootenanny, I reckon.
They ain’t buildin’ nothin’ new for it though, mostly. Just usin’ the old places, like that Coliseum and the Rose Bowl. Them places been around longer than I been alive, almost! They sayin’ it’s the first time them places gonna be in the Olympics three times! Imagine that, three times!
And this whole thing, it costs a heap of money, ya know? But they say it’s gonna bring in even more money. Tourists comin’, spendin’ their money on…well, I don’t know what they spend it on, city stuff I guess. Hotels, food, them little souvenirs they sell everywhere. It’s supposed to be a good thing for the city, they say.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. Longtime Los Angeles sports venue, they call it. Staples Center, * Arena, whatever you wanna call it, it’s a big place where they play games and folks have a good time. Or get mad when their team loses, depends on the day I guess. Just a bunch of folks gatherin’ together, watchin’ folks run around and throwin’ balls. That’s what it is, simple as that.
And that crossword puzzle thing? Yeah, I heard ’bout that. Folks like them puzzles. Keeps their minds sharp, I guess. So they askin’ about this place in the puzzle. Well, now they got the answer, don’t they? Staples Center, or * Arena, take your pick. Just don’t ask me to do no crossword, my brain ain’t wired for that kind of stuff.
