Alright, let me tell you about my hunt for the Thunder Egg in Stardew Valley. It wasn’t exactly a walk in the park, you know?

Getting Started – The Hunt Begins
So, I heard about this thing, the Thunder Egg. Looked kinda cool, and Gunther over at the museum needed one for his collection. Figured, how hard could it be? Just another rock, right? Well, turned out to be a bit more effort than I thought.
First thing I did was grab my pickaxe. Seemed logical. Headed straight down into the mines. Spent a good few days just swinging away. Broke every rock I saw, especially the grey ones and the blue icy ones further down. Got a ton of stone, some copper, iron, the usual stuff. But no Thunder Egg just lying around.
Geodes, Geodes Everywhere
Then I started noticing all the geodes I was picking up. You know, those round rocks you gotta take to Clint? I got stacks of ’em. Regular ones, the frozen ones from the icy levels, and later, the magma ones from deep down near the lava.
- Collected a bunch of Omni Geodes too, those rainbow ones.
- Thought maybe, just maybe, the Thunder Egg was hiding inside one of these.
So, I hauled my stash over to Clint’s place. Cost a bit of coin each time, 25g a pop. Clint just hammers away, crack crack crack. Got a lot of coal, stone, clay… stuff I already had tons of. Got some neat minerals too, like Jagoite, some Quartz, but still no Thunder Egg.
Persistence Pays Off (Eventually)
This went on for a while. Days turned into weeks in the game. Mining, collecting geodes, visiting Clint, getting disappointed, repeat. I even tried the Skull Cavern, thinking maybe it was rarer, hidden deeper. Got my butt kicked by serpents more times than I can count, but gathered more Omni Geodes.
It got a bit frustrating, honestly. Felt like I was just burning money at Clint’s for basic stone most of the time. But I needed that egg for the museum collection reward!
Then one day, wasn’t even expecting it. Just doing my routine trip to Clint with maybe ten geodes, a mix of frozen and magma ones I think. He cracked open a Magma Geode, and bam! There it was. The Thunder Egg. Looked pretty neat, kinda purple and swirly inside.
Mission Accomplished
Felt good, finally finding it after all that searching and cracking. First thing I did? Took it straight to Gunther. He seemed happy, put it on display. Got some reward, can’t remember exactly what now, but finishing that spot in the museum felt like the real prize.

So yeah, that’s my story of getting the Thunder Egg. Mostly involves hitting rocks and paying Clint. If you’re looking for one, just keep breaking those rocks in the mines (especially deeper levels) and crack open every Frozen, Magma, and Omni Geode you find. It might take a while, but you’ll get one eventually. Just gotta keep at it.
