Alright, let’s talk about Electabuzz in Pokémon GO. I remember when I first started playing, seeing that spiky yellow dude on the radar felt like a big deal. Took me a while to actually find one.

My first encounter was near some sort of power station, which felt really appropriate. I remember chucking quite a few Poké Balls at it. It kept jumping and batting them away, really annoying. Had to use some berries to calm it down. Finally managed to catch it, felt like a real victory back then. Added it to my Pokédex, which was the main goal early on.
Naturally, I checked its stats immediately. It was… okay. Nothing spectacular, you know how it goes. Most wild catches weren’t exactly powerhouses. But it was mine! It was an Electabuzz.
Getting Stronger
Getting candies wasn’t easy at the start. They weren’t exactly common spawns for me. I think I hatched an Elekid or two from eggs, which helped speed things up a bit. Walking with Elekid as my buddy also chipped away at the candy requirement, slowly but surely.
Then came the Community Day for Electabuzz. Man, that was something else. Suddenly, they were absolutely everywhere. I spent hours walking around, just catching them non-stop.
- Caught way more than I needed, probably.
- Managed to grab a couple of shiny ones! That orange Electabuzz looks pretty distinct.
- Made sure to evolve my best ones during the event to get Electivire with Flamethrower. Didn’t know if Flamethrower would be super useful, but you gotta get that exclusive move.
Evolution Time: Electivire!
Evolving required that Sinnoh Stone, remember those? They weren’t always easy to come by. I think I got most of mine from battling the team leaders or through PvP rewards back then. It always felt good when one dropped.
Finally getting enough candy and a Sinnoh Stone felt great. I picked my best Electabuzz, hit evolve, and watched it become Electivire. It’s a cool-looking Pokémon, much more imposing than Electabuzz.
So, what about using Electivire now? It’s actually a pretty solid Electric-type attacker. I’ve used it in raids against water and flying Pokémon plenty of times. It’s not always my absolute top choice if I have legendary options ready, but it definitely holds its own. Fast attacks, decent damage output. That special Flamethrower move? It’s alright, maybe catches some Grass types off guard in PvP, but I don’t use Electivire heavily in Go Battle League. More of a raid specialist for me.
Today, my powered-up Electivire is still part of my collection. It’s a reliable electric attacker when I need one, and the shinies look cool. Lots of good memories tied to hunting and evolving this line, especially from that Community Day hustle. Definitely a solid Pokémon to have.
