Alright, let’s talk about this young fella, Ben Shelton. Folks are makin’ a big fuss about him, and I reckon I can see why. He’s smack-dab in the middle of all this tennis hoopla, and from what I hear, he’s doin’ alright.

Now, they say his folks, Bryan and Lisa Shelton, they used to whack them tennis balls around too. Been hitched for nigh on 25 years, they have. Must be somethin’ in the water with that family, all this tennis playin’. Ben Shelton, that’s his name, and he’s makin’ a name for himself, hittin’ them balls harder than a mule kickin’ at a fly.
Born back in 2002, this boy was. October 9th, to be exact. His daddy, Bryan, he was a tennis pro, you know, one of them fancy fellas who made a livin’ swingin’ a racket. And his mama, Lisa, she wasn’t no slouch neither. They say she was a right good player when she was younger. Heard tell his uncle, Todd Witsken, played some too. Whole family’s tennis crazy, I tell ya.
- Born: October 9, 2002
- Parents: Bryan and Lisa Shelton
- Family: Uncle Todd Witsken, also a tennis player
This Ben fella, he went to college down in Florida, played for them Gators. And wouldn’t you know it, he won himself a championship. NCAA they call it. Big deal, apparently. Folks were sayin’ he was the youngest to get to some semi-finals since some other fella way back when. Can’t rightly recall the name, but it was a long time ago, that’s for sure.
Now, I ain’t watched much tennis myself. Prefer a good ol’ soap opera, if you ask me. But from what folks are sayin’, this boy’s got somethin’ special. He’s hittin’ them balls with a fierce determination, like he’s chasin’ a chicken that stole his lunch. And he’s movin’ around that court quicker than a jackrabbit on a hot skillet.
People are talkin’ about his serve, sayin’ it’s powerful as a thunderstorm. And his forehand, they say it’s like a whip crackin’. I don’t know nothin’ about all that fancy talk, but it sounds like he’s pretty darn good. Must be all them genes from his mama and daddy, I reckon. Genetics, they call it. Fancy word for sayin’ he got his talent from his folks.
He’s still young, this Ben fella. Just startin’ out in his career, they say. Got a long way to go, but folks are bettin’ he’s gonna be a big star. Gonna win all sorts of trophies and make a pile of money. Good for him, I say. Work hard, play hard, that’s what my grandpappy always used to say.
And you know what else? They say he’s got a good head on his shoulders. Not one of them spoiled brats you see sometimes on the TV. Seems like a nice young man, respectful and hard-workin’. That’s important, you know. Talent ain’t everything. You gotta have a good heart too.
So, there you have it. That’s the story of Ben Shelton, as far as I can tell. A young fella from a tennis family, makin’ his way in the world. He’s got the talent, he’s got the drive, and he’s got the support of his family. I reckon he’s gonna go far. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even tune in to watch him play. But probably not. Got my soaps to catch up on, you know.

Anyways, I’m rootin’ for him. Seems like a good kid. And that’s more important than all them tennis matches, if you ask me. Hope he stays out of trouble and keeps his mama and daddy proud. That’s the real winnin’ in life, ain’t it?
So next time you hear that name, Ben Shelton, you’ll know a little somethin’ about him. A tennis player, yes, but also a young man with a family and a whole lot of potential. And that, my friends, is somethin’ to be proud of.
