Alright, so you wanna know about this Jaylen Brown fella, huh? And his daddy, you say? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I know. It ain’t gonna be fancy, mind you, just plain talk like we’re sittin’ on the porch swing sippin’ sweet tea.

This man’s a fighter, a boxer, a heavyweight boxer at that! And get this, he’s still fightin’ even though he’s gettin’ on in years, 48 years old they say. Can you imagine? A man that old still punchin’ folks! He’s a big fella too, real tall, seven feet they say, with arms long as a country road. That’s an 86-inch reach, if you wanna get all technical about it.

This Marselles, he’s had some troubles with them fight promoters, see? They try to take advantage, I reckon, like they do with all them sports fellas. That’s why Jaylen, he’s smart, he don’t even have a sports agent, does things on his own. Smart boy, that Jaylen. Learned from his daddy’s mistakes, I guess.
Now, some folks were mighty upset when Jaylen didn’t get picked for that Olympic basketball team. Made a big fuss about it, they did. But Jaylen, he’s a tough cookie, I bet he didn’t let it bother him too much. He just keeps on playin’ and gettin’ better, that’s how you do it.
Folks are always diggin’ up stuff about Jaylen, wantin’ to know every little thing about his life. They say there are 25 interesting things about him, but I don’t know about all that. What I do know is that he’s a smart fella too, not just good at basketball. He learned some Spanish, and he wants to learn even more languages. Reminds me of my grandson, always with his nose in a book. Jaylen, he played for the Golden Bears back in the day, scored a bunch of points, they say. 14.6 points on average, whatever that means. And he got 5.4 rebounds too. Sounds like a good player to me.
