Well, I reckon if you’re here, you’re probably wonderin’ about Patty Gasso’s husband, Jim Gasso. Now, Patty, she’s a big name in college softball, no doubt. Folks around Oklahoma know her well, what with all them championships she’s brought home. But today, we’re gonna talk a bit ’bout Jim, her husband, and what he’s been up to.
Jim Gasso, born and raised out in California, ain’t just sittin’ around while his wife is makin’ waves in the softball world. No sir, he’s been busy too. Just recently, in May 2024, he took on a new role, bein’ the head coach over at Mid-America Christian University. That’s right, he’s teachin’ and trainin’ the next generation of athletes, just like his wife’s been doin’ for years. Seems like coaching is a family tradition, don’t it?
Now, you might ask yourself, “What’s Jim been up to all these years?” Well, he’s been right there behind Patty, supportin’ her all the way. And don’t think for a second that he’s not playin’ a big part in the softball world. He’s been helpin’ out with his son JT, who’s also part of the coaching crew. JT is an assistant coach with the Oklahoma Sooners, the same team Patty’s been leadin’ for years. So, you could say the Gasso family’s got softball in their blood, with all them Gassos pitchin’ in, no matter where they are.
But Jim, he ain’t just a coachin’ man. He’s also a family man. His other son, DJ, is up there in Utah, workin’ as the associate head coach for the University of Utah softball team. Talk about a family of coaches, huh? Seems like the Gasso boys have learned a thing or two from their folks, followin’ in their footsteps, keepin’ the love for the game alive. I reckon it’s somethin’ they all hold dear to their hearts.
Back to Jim, though. After all these years of supportin’ Patty, it’s clear that he’s played a big part in her success. While she’s been out there leadin’ the Sooners, bringin’ home them national titles and whatnot, Jim’s been right there, whether it’s been behind the scenes or on the sidelines, cheerin’ her on. He’s always had her back, that’s for sure. Without him, well, things might’ve been a little different, but I reckon we’ll never know, will we?
So, now Jim’s at Mid-America Christian University, workin’ his own magic with the next crop of players. It’s a new chapter for him, but one that seems like it was meant to be. It’s clear that Jim’s passion for the game ain’t faded, and I reckon it never will. With a wife like Patty, and a family so involved in the game, it looks like Jim’s got a lotta years ahead of him in this here coaching world. And who knows? Maybe he’ll bring home a few championships of his own in the future.
All in all, Jim Gasso’s a fella who’s been just as dedicated to the sport of softball as his wife. Whether he’s standin’ in her shadow or out there buildin’ his own legacy, Jim’s a key part of the story. Behind every great woman, there’s a man who supports her, and Jim Gasso sure does that. Ain’t that the truth?
