Okay, so I got curious the other day. You know how sometimes a name pops into your head? Well, George Foreman did. Big George. Champion, preacher, grill guy. And I started wondering, specifically, about his first wife. Who was she?

Fired up my computer, went to my usual search spot. Typed in something simple like “george foreman first wife”. Pretty straightforward, right?
First bunch of stuff that came up was about his current wife, Mary Joan Martelly. Saw pictures of them, their big family. Lots of kids. And wow, so many sons named George! George III, IV, V, VI… read somewhere he did that so they’d always have something in common, stick together. Interesting idea.
But that wasn’t the first wife. The search results mentioned he was married five times. Five! Okay, so Mary Joan is the most recent one, the one he was with for a long time until, well, you know.
So, I had to sift through that. Kept scrolling, looking past the stuff about his boxing comeback, the Hall of Fame mentions, even the grills – man, those grills are everywhere online.
Had to refine my search a bit. Tried adding dates, like “george foreman marriage history” or “george foreman early life marriage”. You kinda have to poke around different keywords sometimes.
Finally, started seeing the name Adrienne Calhoun pop up associated with his first marriage. Seems like they got married way back, maybe late 60s or early 70s? Before the huge Rumble in the Jungle fame, I think. It didn’t seem like it lasted too long compared to his later marriage to Mary Joan.
It’s funny how you look for one specific thing and end up learning a bunch of other details. Like the five marriages thing, that explains the big blended family you see in pictures. And the reasoning behind all the Georges. It all paints a picture of a pretty eventful life, inside and outside the ring.
So yeah, took a little digging past the main headlines and the grill ads, but I got there. Adrienne Calhoun. That was the answer I was looking for. Just a little trip down the information rabbit hole for the afternoon.
