So I’ve been trying to get into Wuthering Waves lately, right? But I kept running into these server issues. It’s like, one minute I’m in, the next I’m staring at a “connection timeout” error. Super frustrating, you know?
First thing I did was check the game’s own updates. You boot it up, hit “bulletin” on the login screen, and it’s supposed to tell you what’s up. But sometimes, even that didn’t help. I’d click my server, and nothing would happen. Just stuck there. That’s when I figured I needed to dig a bit deeper.
I remembered this thing called a “ping test.” Basically, you send a little signal to the server’s IP address. If the server’s alive and kicking, it sends a signal back. If not, well, you’re out of luck. I found a way to do this on my computer – it’s actually pretty simple.
- I opened up the command prompt.
- Typed in “ping” followed by the server’s IP address.
- Then I hit enter.
Most of the time, I got responses back, which was good. It meant the server was technically up, even if the game was being wonky. But there were a few times where I got nothing. Nada. Zilch. That’s when I knew the server was probably down for real.
And it turns out, Wuthering Waves has a huge player base, like, people from all over the world are playing this game. So, no wonder the servers get overloaded sometimes! It is a popular game. It’s like everyone and their grandma is trying to log in at the same time.
I even found out that they had scheduled maintenance downtime. It was like, seven hours long! It was starting at 6:00 am in the UTC+8 time zone, which is, like, the middle of the night for me. And guess what, that’s when I tried to log in first time. What a coincidence!
In the end, I realized that checking the server status for Wuthering Waves isn’t always straightforward. You gotta be a bit of a detective, using the in-game updates, ping tests, and even checking for announcements about maintenance. It’s a bit of a hassle, but hey, when you finally get in and start playing, it’s worth it. At least, that’s what I think. This game is pretty awesome when it actually works!
