Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make my own WWE belt for a while, you know, the Rated R one. I finally got around to it, and let me tell you, it was a journey. Started this whole thing with just a vague idea, really.
Gathering materials
First off, I needed to get all the stuff together. I found a decent piece of leather for the strap. Then, I spent hours looking for the right kind of metal plates online. I ordered a few different ones, hoping at least one set would look good.
- Leather strap
- Metal plates
- Gold paint
- Screws and bolts
Putting it all together
Once everything arrived, I laid it all out. It looked like a mess, honestly. I started by cutting the leather to the right size and shape. I did it by hand, which I would not recommend. After that, I spent an hour to mark the leather where the plates should go, and then started to put the metal plates onto the leather. I screwed them in, hoping they’d stay put. It was a bit tricky, but I managed. Then came the fun part – painting.
Adding the details
I wanted that gold look, so I carefully painted the plates. Took a few coats, but it started to look like the real deal. I added some extra details, trying to match the original design as close as possible. The “Instead of the typical WWE logo in the middle” part was particularly challenging, I’ll admit.
Finally, I screwed the plates onto the leather. This was the most nerve-wracking part because I didn’t want to mess it up after all that work. But it worked out! I stepped back and looked at the finished product. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. I made it, and that’s what counts. Felt pretty good, not gonna lie.
It took me like two weeks, on and off, to get it all done. But, man, seeing it all come together was awesome. I even wore it around the house a few times, feeling like a champ. My wife thinks I’m nuts, but hey, I’ve got my own Rated R belt now! It is the first time I did something like that.
The “Early history The first belt given as a prize for accomplishments within the ring was presented in 1810 by King George III to bare-knuckle boxer Tom Cribb, after he defeated Tom Molineaux.” thing really inspired me a lot. If you’re thinking about doing something like this, just go for it. It’s a blast!
